How to protect your Eyes from Mobile & Computer Screens

In today’s world, mobile phones and computers have permeated all spheres of life. More number of people are now hooked to mobile devices and laptops, spending more hours accessing digital content. Constant reading and exposure to digital devices can lead to eye strain, headaches and other problems.

Protecting your eyes from computer screens and mobile phones, has become more important than ever. Regularly following simple steps can protect your eyes from further damage.

  • Follow the 20/20/20 Rule. If you work on the Computer or Mobile Phone for long hours, then every 20 minutes try to look at any object 20 feet away, for at least 20 Seconds. The longer you look away from the Screen the better it is for your eyes.
  • Maintain ambient lighting conditions in your work-place. It should not be too dark, or too bright. Reduce use of fluorescent lighting around your work-place.
  • Use anti-glare screens wherever possible.
  • Maintain proper viewing distance from the mobile screen or the computer. Recommended distance is at least 16-18 inches between the screen surface and your eyes.
  • Use any over-the-counter available “Tear” substitute eye-drop. These can help reduce dry eye conditions caused by long usage of mobile or computer devices.
